Welcome to Mackie-High Funeral Home

The heritage of Mackie-High Funeral Home was a dream of Marvin Abram “Doc” Mackie. He was a community spirited entrepreneur who saw the need of a professional undertaking service. In 1917, Doc Mackie closed his grocery store business to open a furniture store and funeral home in Granite Falls. After relocating several times, in 1947 the funeral home and furniture store were united side by side on Main Street in Granite Falls.

In 1963 Annie Mackie High, her husband T.C. “Lanky” High and their son Thomas C. High, Jr. opened the High Funeral Home in the D.H. Warlick home on Duke Street. Upon the death of Mrs. High’s brother, Boyce “Snook” Mackie in 1973, the Mackie-High acquisition was accomplished and both continued to function as a single funeral home at the Duke Street location.

Today, Mackie-High Funeral Home, which is the oldest funeral establishment in Caldwell County, still serves families with pride, and dignity.
